HMS Terror: The Franklin Expedition
H.M.S. Erebus and H.M.S. Terror: The Franklin Expedition
The Franklin expedition is a Canadian fascination. The ill-fated attempt to explore the Arctic departed from England in 1845 led by Sir John Franklin and his crew of 129. By 1848 with no news, his wife appealed for help to find the ships...the HMS Erebus and the HMS Terror. It wasn’t until 2014 and 2016 that the Erebus and Terror were found. A side note or two: 1. the UK government just recently transferred ownership of these ships to the Canadian government and 2. The typeface used with these designs is Fatface, a font that became popular in the early 1800’s in England.
